Acquiring a specimen through E Farms is a commitment to the highest level of wildlife stewardship. To ensure the safety of the animal and the legal standing of our network, we require all buyers to acknowledge and fulfill the following Exotic Animal Buyer Responsibilities prior to and following acquisition.
01
Local & Jurisdictional Legal Compliance
While E Farms ensures all federal and international (CITES) paperwork is in order, the buyer holds sole responsibility for local regulations:
- Permitting: You must verify and obtain all necessary State, County, or Municipal permits (e.g., Dangerous Wild Animal permits) required for possession in your jurisdiction.
- Zoning Laws: Ensure your facility or property is zoned for the specific species being acquired.
- Documentation: You are responsible for maintaining a copy of the transfer of custody records provided by E Farms for your local authorities.
02
Pre-Arrival Habitat Readiness
A specimen must never arrive at an unprepared facility. Buyers are responsible for:
- Infrastructure: Having a species-specific, escape-proof habitat fully functional (including thermal gradients and filtration) 48 hours before the scheduled arrival.
- Nutritional Stocks: Ensuring a minimum of 14 days of specialized diet is on-site prior to the animal’s transit.
- Veterinary Access: Identifying a local veterinarian specialized in exotic or zoological medicine who is prepared to see the specimen if needed.
03
The Critical 48-Hour Acclimation Period
The health of a specimen post-transit depends on a low-stress transition. As a buyer, you agree to:
- Strict Observation: Monitor the specimen for hydration, respiratory health, and activity levels without excessive handling or disturbance.
- Immediate Notification: Report any concerns within the window defined in our Health Guarantee.
- Quarantine Protocols: Implement a mandatory 30-day quarantine period if introducing the specimen to a facility with existing livestock.
04
Ethical Rehoming & Disposition
In the event that you can no longer care for a specimen acquired through E Farms, you agree to prioritize its welfare by contacting us for assistance in locating a verified professional within our network. E Farms strictly prohibits the release of any exotic specimen into the wild.
