Biosecurity & Pathogen Protocol

Advanced Pathogen Screening • Zoonotic Mitigation • Isolation Excellence

At E Farms, we treat biological safety as a foundational pillar of international trade. Our Exotic Wildlife Biosecurity Protocol is designed to mitigate the risk of zoonotic transmission and ensure the health of both the specimens we represent and the facilities they enter. We bridge the gap between private trade and zoological-grade medicine.

01

Mandatory Pathogen Screening (PCR)

Visual health is insufficient for high-value specimens. E Farms requires diagnostic verification for species-specific pathogens within our network:

  • Avian Species: Screening for Psittacine Beak and Feather Disease (PBFD), Polyomavirus, and Avian Influenza.
  • Reptilian Species: PCR testing for Adenovirus, Nidovirus, and Inclusion Body Disease (IBD) where applicable.
  • Primate/Megafauna: Comprehensive TB (Tuberculosis) screening and enteric pathogen panels conducted by accredited laboratories.
02

Pre-Transit Isolation Standards

Before any specimen is cleared for domestic or international shipping, it must complete a mandatory **30-day isolation period**. During this window, the animal is monitored for:

  • Clinical Stability: Verification of consistent feeding, hydration, and weight maintenance.
  • Asymptomatic Shedding: Repeated fecal and swab analysis to ensure the animal is not a sub-clinical carrier of disease.
  • Environmental Acclimation: Ensuring the specimen is robust enough to handle the physiological stress of transit.
03

Zoonotic Risk Mitigation

We adhere to the One Health approach, recognizing the connection between animal and human health. Our biosecurity measures include the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during handling and the strict sanitation of all transit containers using veterinary-grade disinfectants (e.g., F10SC or Virkon S).

04

Veterinary Clearance & Certification

Every shipment is accompanied by a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI) signed within 10 days of departure. For international movements, we facilitate the laboratory-backed documentation required by the destination country’s health ministry to ensure immediate customs clearance.
